Gideon Rachman is chief foreign-affairs columnist for the Financial Times. His most recent book was "Easternisation" - which was translated into 11 languages.
He is a winner of the Orwell Prize for journalism and the European Press Prize. He has spoken before business and university audiences all over the world, including at Harvard, Oxford and Tsinghua universities and at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He joined the FT in 2006, after a 15-year career at The Economist, which included spells as a foreign correspondent in Brussels, Washington and Bangkok.
He writes frequently on all aspects of international politics - with a particular emphasis on the EU, the US, East Asia and globalisation.
