On April 14, 2021, the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Romania to Bulgaria Mrs. Brandusa Predescu and discussed with her the cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Three Seas Initiative. The two interlocutors agreed that Bulgaria and Romania should work actively together to attract foreign investors to the region.

“We must work together to convince international business that our region is good for investment,” said Zaharieva, adding that the Business Forum planned for the summer together with the Summit under the Bulgarian presidency of the Initiative will provide a good opportunity for such activity.

Among the topics of conversation was also improvement of connectivity between the two neighbouring countries. “Further development of transport links between Bulgaria and Romania across the Danube River has always been a priority for our country. The construction of a third bridge over the Danube will have a positive impact not only for development of trade, economic relations and tourism, but will also stimulate economic growth in the region as a whole,“ said Ekaterina Zaharieva.

The Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that in addition to the common interests and shared values that bond Bulgaria and Romania the two countries face similar challenges. “I am happy that we share a common vision for the European future of the countries of the Western Balkans, and I am convinced that it will contribute to stability in the region,” said our foreign minister.

In conclusion Deputy Prime Minister Zaharieva wished full success to the mission of Brandusa Predescu who happens to be the first female Ambassador of Romania to Bulgaria.
