Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia
The Three Seas Summit and Business Forum took place in Slovenia last year and was hosted by the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor. We are glad to present his thoughts on the importance of Three Seas.
Statement by H.E. Mr
Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia on the Three Seas
The Three Seas initiative aims at stimulating more rapid development of the region stretching between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas. The improvement of interconnectivity of the 12 Member States will greatly contribute to wider EU stability and prosperity, and help to bridge the East – West economic gap, within the EU.
It is very important that areas that we are focusing on, namely infrastructure, energy and digital interconnectivity, are placed within the framework of sustainable development. As such, the Three Seas Initiative is of key importance for economic development, European cohesion and transatlantic ties.
It was a pleasure to host the 3SI summit last year. I am convinced that we made a significant step forward to our common goal. The Ljubljana Summit showed that the network has been established between the participating states and that the implementation capacity is there.
With Three Seas Initiative, we have a unique opportunity to work together for a modern, sustainable and innovative Europe.
I commend Estonia for everything that it has done since last summit and I am looking forward to the meeting in Tallinn.
