Alongside the Three Seas Summit this year, the largest association of entrepreneurs in Latvia — the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) — in co-operation with AS “Rietumu Banka” is organising a roundtable discussion between chambers of commerce and industry titled “Regional security via transport, energy and infrastructure: the role of chambers in it," which is to take place on 20 June from 9.00 to 11.30 in Riga at the Zunda Towers centre. The discussion will be live-streamed online.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has changed the global status quo, thereby challenging and leading to changes in the familiar and natural sense of security, economic development, and international and market relations in Europe. Now is the time to make new decisions, build new opportunities for co-operation, and opt for bold solutions that will determine the future of Europe. Representatives from the European Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Eurochambres and chambers of commerce and industry of the Three Seas region will meet at a roundtable discussion within the framework of the Three Seas Summit to debate matters of regional security, energy, transport, and infrastructure, as well as economic development opportunities under the current uncertain circumstances.

The participants will discuss matters of economic, political, and social importance and how these have changed post-24 February when Russia started its war in Ukraine. Among issues to be discussed are the possibilities of developing new opportunities for co-operation and the role of transport, energy, and infrastructure in promoting these opportunities, including within the Three Seas Initiative and the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, by reassessing these initiatives from today’s perspective.

The President of LCCI Aigars Rostovskis remarks: “This is a time of active discussions and exchange of opinions because by measuring the opinions of our neighbours nearby and further afield we can better set out our position and find ways of tackling any existing and potential challenges.”

All those who are interested in these topics are invited to follow the event, which will be live-streamed on LCCI and TV24 Facebook pages.
